Election Violations in Wayne County

Campaign material being handed out on the steps of the 13-2 and 13-6 precinct steps and brought into the polling place. When a voter asked for a sample ballot, one election offical pointed to the material and said, "We don't have any sample ballots, use that."


Man who identifies himself as a Kerry delegate (he tells me to keep my Republican ass out of his face as I sit talking to an election supervisor, who ignores his actions and then tells me to "add it to your list, I don't have time for you.") as he talks to a voter.The woman in purple sitting at the table with him is an election official as well.The election supervisor, visible at the table next to his, in the white sweater, ignores his campaigning. When the young man with her got up and left, I took his place and pointed out that the "Kerry delegate" being in the polling place was a violation. At first she told me, "he's not handing anything out." After he approched me and began harassing me, she told me she thought it wasn't any big deal.





The self-identified Kerry delegate hollers out, "Get your picture?" He is wearing no less than four Kerry buttons.
I did not comment.



An hour or so later a man wearing a yellow NAACP jacket came to the precinct, accosted me and asked me what I was doing there, what my interest was in Detroit, etc., harassing and attempting to intimidate me. He eventually left without having made any difference in my feelings, other than to convince me that the NAACP doesn't care about voter rights, only about winning at all costs.
